Mitchell Breuer and Weston Gadient each wrestled 4 matches Friday at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.
At 152, Mitchell Breuer lost a 10-1 major decision to eventual semi-finalist to Mitchell Rohlik of Wabasso/Red Rock Central. In his wrestleback late Friday, Mitchell lost a 5-0 decision and dropped out of the tournament. Congratulations to Mitchell on a great season and his first state tournament appearance.
At 220, senior Weston Gadient notched a first round pin against Barnesville's Kyle Johnson in :50 seconds. In the evening quarterfinals, Weston kept fans and coaches on the edge of their seats. The first period saw no takedowns, and they traded escapes in final two periods. The first overtime went without a takedown, sending the match into double overtime. Barnesville chose down in the first double over-time. Despite numerous attempts, Weston was able to ride him out for the :30 seconds. Weston then went down and with the clock running down, got his second escape of the match and the win.
